FIRST Haircut time!!

It was time....for the FIRST haircut! Braxtyn has such fuzzy, board straight hair! I was so nervous to give him a cut, because I was worried you would be able to see every single little cut I took! Nick likes to compare B's hair to the Baby Grinch! What do you think?? Maybe a little!!

So I finally decided, it was time! I waited until Nick was home from work, so he could be the official photographer for the event! Braxtyn did great! He sat there the entire time, looking at Daddy, and in the mirror! His hair looks a million times better!! Such a BIG Boy!!

Shark Teeth

Kastyn is 5.5, and so excited to lose her first tooth! So many kiddos in her class have already lost teeth and have spaces all over in their mouth! It's kinda cute! Everyday she will come home and say, I lost a tooth, or a I have a loose tooth...neither of which are true! I don't feel like she will ever lose a tooth! We went to the dentist a week ago, for her 6month checkup and cleaning. They did x-rays, and the Dr did tell me that before she came back in 6 months, she would be losing a couple! She was super excited!

Fast forward to Monday! I was tickling K and making her laugh open-mouthed, and I noticed a new tooth. Ummm, how is this happening???? we haven't lost any!!! Well this little tooth is coming in behind...the row of baby teeth on the bottom! I noticed the spacing between her bottom teeth had been getting bigger, I suppose this is the reason why!!

I have made Kastyn eat an apple each night to help loosen the two bottom toofers! I hope it works and they start to loosen quickly, so we don't have to make a trip to the dentist and have teeth pulled!! :)

Our Fireplace...

Has been found by our into EVERYTHING one year old! I was hoping that it wouldn't become an issue, and he wouldn't care about it. But I'm not that lucky now am I? NOPE!

Everytime I turn around, he's up there, on the fireplace, sitting, standing, or just crawling around. I tell him No, and he laughs. I ignore him, and he keeps doing it. I get him and put him down, and he goes running back for more. I know this stage will pass, and he won't get up there anymore, but it is driving me nuts!! It's Rock, and it's hard, and there are sharp edges, and I'm afraid he's going to get hurt! Oh...he is ALLLL boy!

"Head Injury"

This is the paperwork that came home with Kastyn yesterday! I knew it was coming. The nurse called me a little after 10 in the morning and said, that Kastyn had a little accident on the playground. Another little kiddo ran into her, and she had a bruise on her face, so she was sitting in the nurse office with ice on her cheek. I wasn't too worried. She and Brax bump all the time, and nothing comes of it. However, when I picked her up from school...she was still red, and now a little purpleish/blue, and hand a lump. Guess the kid she ran into had a rally hard head! It was a smidge tender, but overall she was fine! My big question...Did you cry? She said she didn't. She had a tear that came out of her eye, but she didn't cry! :) Hopefully it will just make her tougher!

Buuuusy Weekend!!

We have had pretty easy going weekends lately, well this past weekend was anything but layed back and easy! It seems like everything HIT, and we were busy! Lots of firsts too! First time we had a babysitter here, first soccer game, first time Mommy got away to get a haircut since we've been here! Overall it was a great weekend, but beig as busy as we were, it went way too quickly!!

Friday Night, Nick and I got away for a few hours to watch the KU Men's Basketball team in the Sweet 16 at the Alamodome! They won! Yay! Go boys! This was also the first night that we have had a babysitter since we've been in SA. I was SO nervous! Not only was it the first time that we'd had a sitter here, it was the first time we'd ever left Braxtyn with a sitter...well other than Dabbers a couple times! I had a full list of details for the sitter and could only hope for the best. Well he was less than thrilled about the idea of me leaving, so after I said my good-byes, I snuck out. he cried a lot! Luckily Big Sister K was here, to help out...cuz the sitter coudln't really get a handle on him, or the amount of tears he was producing. Once he was in bed, the night was a little quieter for her!

Saturday was more of being busy! It was Tanner's Birthday Party in the morning, that Nick took Kastyn to, so that I could stay home with B, so he could get a good nap in, before we headed off to the first soccer game of the season! Kastyn is playing I-9 soccer this year, and is in a co-ed 6-8 year old league(yes, she's 5). She played amazing. She scored BOTH of the points for the Thunderbolts, and her team beat the other team 2-0!! Way to go K!! So proud of my girl!!

After a hot and sweaty afternoon at the soccerfields, Mommy got away for a bit, to get a much needed haircut! I had been putting it off for waaaay toooo looong, and finally broke down. I was very pleased with not only the salon, but the job the girl did. My hair is thankful too! It looks SO much better, and feels great!

Sunday was more busy! Again, we had the sitter come over(and B did a bit better this time), so Nick and I could go to the Alamodome once again to watch some KU ball! The Elite 8 this time. However, the boys didn't do quite as wonderfully as we had hoped! :( Oh well, they are still a rocking team, and we will always be JAYHAWK fans! No matter what! RoCk ChAlK bAbY!!!!

So that was our Krazy Busy Weekend. All well worth it though!! :)

First Dentist Appointment

Yesterday, I took Brax to his first dental appointment! I know he only has 2 tiny teeth, but, he is such s Momma's boy, I wanted to take him to get used to it!

He isn't a fan of Me looking at his teeth, so the Dentist wasn't #1 on his list! He did pretty good, so hopefully this will help for the next time me go!! :)

Boys, Boys, Boys!

Poor Kastyn! She is surrounded by BOYS! Her brother is a boy, the friends who moved down here with us have 3 boys, the little neighbor kid is a boy....and yesterday we met the nice family who will be moving into the new house nextdoor when it's done, and they have 2 more BOYS!

Yesterday after meeting the new family that will be moving in next-door, Kastyn came in and said: Mom, when will some girls move in? I told her I wasn't sure, but it was ok if she played with boys, it would just make her tougher, and she would have to learn how to beat them...and beat them up!! She gave me a half smile and said, I know, but all I really want to do is play dress-up! :) My silly little thing! I guess she will either have to deal with getting rough and dirty, or will somehow have to talk this slew of boys into playing dress up with her! I'd love to see those Garst boys in some pink!! :)

One Year Check-up

I took this sweet little guy for his one year check up today! He is doing wonderfully! He weighed in at a whopping 23 pounds 11 ounces(clothed), which puts him mid 50%. He was 31.5 inches long, and that tops the charts in the 90% range!!

The Doctor(yes a different one again, and I liked her) said he looks like he's doing wonderfully! We talked about him walking, and talking, what he is/isn't eating, and his sleep. Overall, he is hitting all his milestones just like he should and she wasn't worried about a thing! The only sad moment was when he had to get his shots. I am used to two nurses poking him, so it's done quickly, however today it was only one, and she had to do three seperate shots. :( Made me sad to have to have him go throught that, and see those big tears. I immediately scooped him up off the table and snuggled him tight.

We will go back around 15 months for another well-child checkup!! :)

Swimming...in MARCH??

Yep! We took the kids today for a little dip in the neighborhood pool! I did NOT get in. I was the official photographer for the "event". The water was cold, and the wind was blowing, didn't seem like my kind of swim. Kastyn loved it and would have stayed for hours if we would have let her. Braxtyn wasn't too sure in the beginning, but was really beginning to enjoy the water by the time we headed home.

I'm sure we will spend PLENTY of time at the pool this spring/summer/fall! I can't wait for the TAN!!

Big Fat Lip

So today, I had planned on taking Braxtyn out to finish up his One Year photos. I was excited, he was in a good mood, the weather was perfect! Then...it all ended. He went running after Kastyn, and fell, and those two little tiny teeth he has, sliced through his top lip. Lots of blood. Lots of tears. No One Year Pictures today. Instead, I grabbed my camera and took a handful of pictures of his poor sad little face.

The swelling has gone away mostly, but he still had a bit of a reddish/purple lip, and it has a nice cut. Poor kiddo. I'm sure this is the first of many, so I should get used to it, especially since he is a boy!!

Video Games

We got a Wii for Christmas! It has been a lot if fun so far! We just recently purchased MarioKart, and we allllll love it!!

Sunday we played for a little while, and as Kastyn was driving, Braxtyn went and sat diwn right next to her to watch. This was folliwed by laying his head in her lap, and finally trying to take the steering wheel away from her! He just wanted a turn! Heehee!

Braxtyn Birthday Cake Pictures!

On Mr. B's Birthday, Kastyn helped me make a Birthday Cake for her baby brother. I let her pick it all out and practically make it. I helped with the oven, and pouring! Other than that...she did great! We shared the yummy cake with Braxtyn after dinner! He was amazed! :) He loved the candle, and sat and smiled as we sang to him!! Such a Sweet Sweet Boy!

Friends will Come and Go...

Friday when I picked Kastyn up, I asked my normal, "How was your day?" "Good Mom, Asher moved." I said "oh really, where did he move to?" "I think far away." "That's so sad :(" " I know". I could barely continue our converstaion, due to the tears in my eyes, and the lump in my throat.

I have only been to Kastyn's classroom a couple times, but Asher was such a cutie! He was one of the only kiddos in Kastyn's class that was taller than her, so he really stood out to me! The last time I was there, I went to eat lunch with Kastyn, and as we were waiting in line to go eat, he looked at me and said, "you know what?? You look like Kastyn!" So Sweet. When we were eating, he kept looking at Kastyn and waving and saying hi! That same day I walked to pick her up from school, and Asher was getting on the bus, he was sticking his head out saying, "hi Kastyn!!". I teased her all the way home that Asher was her boyfriend. :) She didnt' think that was very funny!

I realized Friday afternoon, that there are going to be so many friends that come and go. And that's okay. I'm sure Kastyn will make good friends, and then just have friends that pass through her life. Here in San Antonio, she will probably have a lot of friends that just pass through. With there being such a high number of military families, I am sure the school systems see a lot of kids come and go all year long. Just in the past week, she has two new students in her class. There are two kiddos in the neighborhood who she plays with here and there, who are trying to sell their house so they can move. It makes me sad to think that the little friends who she looks forward to playing with, will soon be gone too.

I hope she will be able to have a good handful of the friends who last a lifetime!! I know I still keep in contact with friends from 3rd grade and before, and I hope she too will be able to have close friends, who she will be able to keep in contact with for many many years to come!

I heart this SO much!

I absolutely love my boys! Braxtyn is without a doubt a Mommy's Boy! But he loves his Daddy bunches too!
I love the way he squeals and runs toward the door when Nick gets home! He wants to see his Daddy, and get picked up for hugs!!

This picture was probably taken two weeks ago. Nick got home later than normal from work, both kiddos were already fed & bathed just waiting on Daddy! Well B wanted to be up close and personal with his dad while he quickly ate his dinner! He sat on his lap the whole time.

It was absolutely precious and melted my heart! Love my boys to pieces!! :)

He is ONE!!!

And Happy Birthday to my Sweet Baby Boy!! I did a lot better with the day than I thought I would! NO TEARS!! I did a lot of crying on the 8th, but didn't show any on the 9th! I'm a big girl!

Braxtyn has a great day!! He took naps, played, ate a lot(guess now that he's one he requires more food), opened presents, and even had a birthday cake(made especially for him by his sister)!!

I Love Braxtyn more than anyone could ever imagine.

I love the way he likes to snuggle when he wakes up.

I love that he follows me around all day, and often wants me to pick him up.

I love that he is turning into his own little person.

I love that each day he finds new things and learns new tricks.

I love that if I tell him NO...he smiles and laughs at me.

I love that he is soo soo soo sweet.

I love his crazy messy hair, that I have no idea what to do with it.

I love that he loves his sister; even if he beats on her sometimes.

I love that he is like a little sponge and soaks it all up.

I love that he is so smart!

I love that he loves ME!

I love that I'm his MOMMY!

I could go on and on and on, about all my loves for this sweet boy!! We waited so long for him, and he is absolutely perfect for us in every single way! He fits right in!!

Tomorrow(March 9) is NOT going to happen...

We are just going to continue with March 8th forever!!

I don't want my sweet baby boy to be ONE. I don't remember having this much trouble when Kastyn turned one, so I really don't know what my problem is this time....but I don't want it to happen. :( It makes me Happy to know he is here and that he is a happy healthy little guy!! However, it makes me sad to think that he is growing so quickly!!! ONE really? How did that happen so quickly? It seems like just yesterday he was a teeny tiny little baby and I was snuggling him close, and now he is turning into this little independant guy, that I LOVE SO MUCH!!!

Yes, he is allll boy! Yes, he is a dare-devil!! Yes, I am sure we will visit the ER at somepoint during his childhood! Luckily this time he didn't fall, and was supervised(that is Nick's hand & I was taking the picture). As soon as he decided this wad no longer fun, we removed the chair from areas that he plays in...just incase! :)

SICK....

Yep, that's right...MOMMY has been sick, and I can't thank Daddy enough for stepping up to the plate. He has done everything around here for the past two days, and I don't know what I would have done without him! I haven't been this sick in a loooonng time, and I hope I don't re-visit it anytime soon!

If you know me, I'm not your typical one throw up and done. My body thinks it's better if I continue to puke for hours and hours and hours! This started Friday night around 9 and didn't end until Saturday around 6am. :( NO FUN at ALL!

I am actually feeling part human today, and hoping that NOBODY else in my house gets this! I would be pure evil if I wanted this to come down on anyone else!

I feel a BIG 'ol Lysol Session this week!! :)

Wishing and hoping...

That one day....he too will be able to swing across those monkey bars!! Right now he watches her, a lot, and sometimes even follows her around. But I am sure that one day very soon, he too will be running all over the playgrounds....and I won't be able to keep up!! :)

UGH!! REALLY!!!

This is how I feel right now. Who ever could have imagined that it would be SOOO hard to find a flippin' doctor?!?! I went to the doctor and really liked him, so I thought YAY, I found a doctor, this will be great...no worries...well then I took Kastyn...he's NOT so much a kid doctor. He has kids, and should be good with kids...right? Not so right. He was weird with my kids, so onto looking for another Dr.

Thought we found another Dr. Took Kastyn when she was having sleep issues, really liked the Dr. She took the time to sit down with me and explain things, etc very informative, and thorough...so I went ahead and schedulded B's 1 year well baby check when we were there. Well time goes by, B gets sick, I need to take him in...well he's a new patient, so they don't have openings...really??? Ok, whatever, he will be fine. So more time goes by, B gets sick again, I call...NO OPENINGS. WTF! So I went off on receptionist(one of THOSE days). But seriously, when your website says you keep openings for sick appts, and I've now called not once but TWICE to get my sick baby in, and you can't. Peeves ME!

So I ask Nick to ask girls at work who they use, get name/number of Dr...make appt! SCORE. Well then we drive for 45 minutes to get there...NO Bueno! Plus, it was scary!! Bars on the windows, gates around the office, and when we went in...EWWWW...I'm sure we all now have some kind of illness from just stepping into that place. However, the NP was AAAAAAHHHHMAZING! I wish I could just have her personal cell, and call her as needed. Wouldn't it be nice if things worked like that. :) So after talking to her, and getting lots of wonderful information, she asked where we lived, and I told her, and she was shocked we drove so far...well we did, and we are here, and we like you. She was nice enough to give me a list of Drs that she would recommend which are a lot closer to our house, if we decide to use them, great, if not, she's love to see us back in the office.

So just this morning, I sit down with the list she provided me, and I google the first Dr. I find a number, and I call. This is a Pedi-office, three doctors and a slew of nurses. I call explaining we are new to the area and have been referred to this office, and I would like to make an appt for my son's 1 year well baby check. She replied, "we aren't taking anymore new patients this month(um hello, it's the 4th??? huh) so if you'd like you can call back the first of next month and see if we have any openings!" Are you KIDDING ME???

Do I'm back at square 1 looking again...I still have my list, and I guess I will continue down to see what I find...hoping to find someone great who is close!! I have even called our old DR in Wichita more than once to talk to his nurse about the kiddos when they have been under the weather, and she has been nice enough to give me information over the phone!

So here I go...still in search for the perfect dr. Maybe I should jus lower my expectations...but Dr Koehler, was perfect!! We ALL loved him!

A couple weeks ago, Kastyn's school had Rodeo Day! Well we have no western attire....luckily this dress paired with a borrowed pair if boots from Tanner, and we had ourselves an OK outfit for the day.

She said it was fun! And...luckily her feet didnt hurt when she came home!

Spurs Game

Friday night we were given amazing tickets to the Spurs/NJ game. Our seats were 13 rows from the floor!!

The kids did great too!! Kastyn loved the dancers and the halftime entertainment was a group of cheerleaders! Braxtyn was a little spooked when the fans would get loud, and he would snuggle with me until they would calm, and then snuggle up when it was loud again! It was so cute!! :)

Great family night at the game!!
