Our Little Reader!
In the past two weeks I have noticed so much of a change in Kastyn's reading "skills". She went from simply knowing her letters and most of their sounds, and doing nothing with them....to sounding out and reading everything she sees! From little things like the "GAP" logo on Nick's sweatshirt, to signs when we are at a red light in the car!
Tonight we played a game before bed, where we would spell out different words(with her magnetic letter board) and then she would sound them out....and then moved into small sentences! She was doing great! I loved to see the excitement in her face when she would 'get' a word or sentence correct!
Sometimes she rushes and just tries to guess what the word is before fully sounding it out...and an example of this would be THE...I don't know how...but...she blurted out "tits"! I thought I was going to fall off my chair with laughter. I tried my hardest to NOT laugh, since I didn't want her to think I was laughing at her...but how could you not laugh...at least a little! :)
Maybe if we're lucky, she'll be the one reading books to baby brother when he gets here!! I can't believe how quickly she is growing up!!

New Kid Appointment...
I had another appointment for the new kid yesterday! Everything is looking good and right on track! I am still gaining weight(ack) and everything with the baby looks good too!
I go again in two weeks for a regular appt, and then in three for a sono to see how big this boy is getting. Currently he's kinda head down and to the side. His butt is to the left of my bellybutton, and his feet and legs are stretched out right under the ribs on my right side!
He's a mover and a shaker! Last night he was calm for two hours when I was laying watching TV, and then I get ready for bed and lay down, and he is moving and shaking all around! I don't know what his deal was! He prefers is I lay on my left-side...so maybe that was part of the reason! But he was ALLL over the place!!
I have the rest of my appointments from here until the end scheduled! It's getting SO close now, and really, it's gone very quickly!! I'm so excited to meet this little guy! Now...if we could just come up with a name! :)

Kastyn's First Concert!!
Since Nick and I both won tickets to the Brad Paisley concert at the new Intrust Arena downtown, we decided to take Kastyn and Monte with us! It was a great concert and our seats were nice too! Kastyn had a great time!! She loved hearing all the "singers" and eating her cotton candy and drinking her sprite! Spoiled!! Justin Moore opened the show...wonderfully! I could have listened to him much longer! Miranda Lambert followed him...and I could have done without her, however she did have very pretty silver sparkly boots!! And to finish up the evening, Brad Paisley put on an amazing show!!
It was a LOOONG concert(7:30-12ish) with all the stage changes and such, but fun. She ended up on my lap about halfway thru, but that way a-ok with me...I don't know how much baby brother enjoyed it, since he kept kicking her in the back...but it was cute to see her reaction when he'd kick her. She'd sit up...look at me, and then softly elbow my belly! :) I personally just think "bubba" was excited to hear all the great music...so he was dancing!!

Daddy really needs to learn how to hold his hand STILL so we don't have blurry pictures!!

Isn't he GREAT!!!
Since taking down all of our Christmas decor, we've been super busy painting! Last week we completely painted the baby's room and the kitchen! This weekend we tackled the living room! Since we've lived here for 4.5 years, it was time to freshen the walls a bit. We didn't change the colors...we just gave them a new coat of paint! At one point, Nick asked what else I wanted to paint, and my question to him was...."if I keep taping the walls off...will you keep painting??" His answer unfortunately was No. :)
He was very brave and took on the walls around the stairs this weekend!! Yikes!!
And you thought he was great for simply getting a ladder and painting the stairs...no the real reason I love him is this:
There was this teeny tiny spot that couldn't be reached from the landing or from the ladder, so he hoisted(yes hoisted) me up onto his shoulders....baby and all so together we could reach the little spot that needed touched up! Walls are done, and they look wonderful!! :)
He was very brave and took on the walls around the stairs this weekend!! Yikes!!
